Tiger Cubs Synopsis

Tiger Cubs is a unique TVB series airing once a week at 90 minutes each episode with a total run of 13 episodes. It is another police procedural drama but this time based on the elite team from the Special Duties Unit. The Chinese title is ‘Flying Tigers’ based on the nickname of the real SDU team. The SDU is the team that specialises and handles crimes that are deemed too dangerous for ordinary police to handle. They also work closely with the Organized Crime and Triad Bureau team to crack down on the terrorist groups. 

Each episode tells of a different story which all involves the SDU and OCTB teams getting down to the nitty gritty’s of it. Not only this, but within every episode, it holds a special moral. Even the title of the episode tells a story.

Tiger Cubs also features a number of guest stars including Kenneth Ma and Pierre Ngo. Suspense? Action? Thriller? Crimes? Tick, tick, tick, tick!

Chin Hon To (Joe Ma) is a diligent and justice leader to the SDU team. He wants his team to be the best of the best but work according to the rules. So when two newbies, Yau Chun Hin (Vincent Wong) and Yuk Hok Lai (Him Law) join the team, he pushes them out of their limits to teach them what it takes to be the best of the best on his team.

However, Hok Lai continuous break the rules and strongly believes that ‘lives comes before rules’ pushing Hon To more than ever to teach his team that by following accordingly to the rules, lives will come first. Chun Hin is the totally opposite to Hok Lai. He has a very calm and patient personality but he lacks self-esteem. Hon To must train these newbies to be fit for the job of being in the SDU.

Cheuk Kai Kwong (William Chak) is a very strong member of the team who joined the team in order to earn fast money to open his own fitness centre. However, as he gets acquainted to team, he becomes unsure of his purpose.

Hon To is a very hard working man indeed. He has a loving girlfriend, Ting Wai Wai (Christine Kuo) and strong friendships. However, his friendship with the team’s sniper and Chong Cheuk Wah’s younger brother, Chong Cheuk Yuen (Oscar Leung) is put on the table when he discovers that Wai Wai has fallen for Cheuk Yuen. Cheuk Yuen attempts to clear up the issue by calling upon the team’s only female member and main technician, So Man Keung (Mandy Wong) to pretend to be his girlfriend. However, his attempt to patch things up only complicates the matter even further. Man Keung wants to join the practical team and be out in the real world instead of sitting behind a computer punching in letters and numbers. She holds hope that she will be the first ever female member in the SDU team.

Chong Cheuk Wah (Jessica Hsuan) is the leader of OCTB team. She is extremely persistent and hard working. She would go out of her league just to catch these criminals. However, there is a background story behind all of this… One night her fiancée called her out but she declined which resulted to her fiancée getting killed in a robbery. Ever since that incident, she blames herself for her fiancée’s death and is more determined than ever to put every criminal behind bars so she continuously immerses herself into her work.

Hon To and Cheuk Wah find themselves getting closer and closer to each other as they work together. As they see more of each other, Hon To realises that she has more similarities to him than with anyone else. He comes to realise that he is falling in love with her but will she be able to overcome her tragic past and realise that her other half is right in front of her?

    The promo poster was small so at first I thought there were only guys on it. I was all, WHAT ABOUT THE GIRL POWER?? Thankfully there is girl power.
