I loved this episode, but not for the reasons which I expected. Coming off from ep 10 and with the preview for this ep, I honestly thought that Taecyeon and Gui Gui would take it away with this ep but to my disappointment they didn’t. The build up to this ep really got me hyped because but I guess I got hyped up for all the wrong reasons. On the contrary, Hong Ki and Mina totally blew me away with what they brought to the ep as well as their relationship. They really have stepped a long way since the first ep.
I was so excited to see Gui Gui meeting Nichkhun but when they did meet I wasn’t excited any more. There was so much hype to Gui Gui meeting Nichkhun so when it failed, it just toned down the lively and atmosphere that was created in the previous ep. It would have been good to see him communicate with her in Chinese. Hehehe! I just expected to see more out of the meeting, something from it that would spark some strong relationship growth between Gui Gui and Taecyeon. There wasn’t that punch of excitement which I would have loved to see.
I think I would have preferred it if Gui Gui used that meeting to get Taecyeon jealous and then play off from that. I’m sure that would have helped to lift up the mood. However, in saying so, the way that Gui Gui handled that meeting showed that she really has learnt to accept and respect that Taecyeon is her husband. She knows that she has used this as an excuse long enough to play with his feelings so now it is time for her to really cement their relationship. She really does respect him as her husband which is why she didn’t explode on meeting Nichkhun which manages to show just how much she has come to view their relationship status.
What let Gui Gui and Taecyeon’s segment down was because of Taecyeon’s friends. I think the appearance of his friends made her quite uncomfortable. Well, not really his friends, but rather his friends coming together at once. She can work when she is with them one-on-one but not as one big group. All this boils down to communication. With one person she is able to make sense of what they are trying to get across to her but while with a big group of people she isn’t able to do that. I know that it is hard on her being unable to understand Korean while everyone around her speaks that language so this really impacts on the way she is able to act around others. She may have a translator on site but that doesn’t make up for the feelings and emotions that one feels from the actual spoken context. Also, it is not just Gui Gui but Taecyeon’s friends as well. They weren’t really reaching out to Gui Gui; they didn’t really try to get to know her. They mainly spoke through Taecyeon and to Taecyeon. Though G.O and Kwanghee were the exception as they really tried to interact with Gui Gui.
While by themselves Gui Gui and Taecyeon share the best chemistry. They made have been among a group of friends by they were in their own little bubble during the love shot. During that moment we really got to see the best out of them. They were most comfortable then, especially for Gui Gui who has spent weeks getting to know Taecyeon. It was also quite adorable how Taecyeon appeared to be shy about it!
I do love that Gui Gui continues to be as genuine as ever. All her words and actions really shows who she is as a person. She is as cute as ever! She was awestruck when she saw Nichkhun and shy when asked to show her dance moves. However, she did so anyway and took fun out of the atmosphere. I also loved her reaction to when she saw her video on television. Just so cute!
Hong Ki and Mina were so sweet to watch! They really have made it far with their relationship. Should I have not known that they were on this for show, they really would have passed in my eyes as a couple. I just love how close they have come with each other, they really are much like a couple. Their skinship is so real and comfortable! Their massage foot scene was really intimate. That just shows how comfortable they are around each other to be able to do that, because their relationship has surpassed the hugging stage.
What Hong Ki and Mina have is more than just friendship. Just look at how far they have come! They can speak so comfortably with each other because they have come to understand each other. During the ferris wheel ride, I think it was really sweet of Hong Ki to tell Mina to speak in Japanese while he spoke in Japanese to her. They mutually understand each other as well as the hearts of each other!
Yeahhhh, not sure what went wrong with the Taecyeon-Gui Gui segment; the first part of the segment was splendid while the second part was quite lacking with what delivered in the first part. Hopefully with next ep – since it is also of a new mission – will revive the previous brilliance brought along by Gui Gui and Taecyeon. Of course, I am looking forward to seeing more of Hong Ki and Mina!
