My disappointed spirits with the last ep was anything but in this ep. I absolutely loved this ep! It was so full of life and energy! I never thought that Gui Gui and Taecyeon composing a song together, honestly when I was watching the preview for this ep I was just like it would not strike my interest but when I went into watching the ep, I grew more and more immersed with watching it develop because every interaction that Gui Gui and Taecyeon made with each other made me eager to watch more of them together!
This is one ep which I really looked forward to; I just wanted to see an ep of TaecGui in “marriage” life after all the ceremony and celebrations are over. I was definitely not disappointed in this ep because it really brought out all the sunshine in their relationship. Just seeing that their feelings are genuine makes every ep that much more powerful, and of course this ep was of no exception. You just know that that the feelings that they have for each other is true and sincere which makes me really invested in following their development.
This ep proved to me why I shipped Gui Gui and Taecyeon together, even before the airing of WGMG because they definitely have the charisma! Seeing them on-screen really ignited this charisma and the feelings which they gave off is definitely something really strong. You truly get to see the true colours of their relationship when they are by themselves, because when that is when they are most comfortable with each other. Gui Gui really allows herself to shine when she is Taecyeon; she is not afraid to open herself because she knows that she can do this around him without him judging her. He is the one who is constantly by her side, supporting her and encouraging her and more importantly, is the person helping her to settle into this foreign country.
I think that this start was the best one for all the eps as of yet. It is so them – carefree, laid-back and happy. Them running around chasing each other really shows how they are as a couple and I absolutely loved that because they are happy to do so! They do not need to be lovey-dovey around each other for their relationship to work, they only have to be themselves. The show is about a virtual marriage but more importantly, and particularly for this season it is getting to know each other and subsequently develop a friendship. And they have, Taecyeon and Gui Gui have come a long way since day one. They understand each other, changed each other and helped one another to understand themselves more.
I’m not sure if I have previously mentioned this before but I like the way how TaecGui are incorporating games – especially the rock, paper, scissors game and stretching – into their relationship. This allows them to not only connect with each other but lessen any distance that they may have between them due to cultural differences. They use this as a bridge in their relationship, to help one another cross over their obstacles. This is not just an ordinary game any more, because it is their game; a game which they can never forget the memories that it brings to them.
How sweet was it for Gui Gui to offer to make a snack to treat her diligent husband? This really makes this virtual marriage appear like marriage. It was sweet because she was content to do so, and she was happy that she could be of help to him while he appreciated and enjoyed her efforts. It’s these little actions that they do for one another that really helps to bind them together! For her to willingly offer to do so allows them to express the way that they see this relationship. The time they have spent with each other during the filming process has helped them to develop a bond which I am hoping they would last forever.
The mission of composing a love song is something that gave quite a challenge for the two, but more so for Gui Gui. Despite the efforts that Gui Gui and Taecyeon put into lessen their communication barrier, it is a barrier that will always be there. Taecyeon, who is fluent in English plus the fact that he composed the song, knew how he wanted to proceed and express his ideas. However, for Gui Gui this was not the case. She is not fluent in English, plus this was her first time having to use English lyrics so this proved to be a challenge for her to express herself. You could see within her that there was so much more which she wanted to get across but she just couldn’t find the words for it. It doesn’t matter as long as Taecyeon understood what she was trying to get across, which I am sure he did! She tried her best and that’s what really counts. She really did try to make sure that the song turned out with love.
It must have been hard for Gui Gui to sing, especially as she is not fluent in English and she had to sing in front of strangers. However, she persisted on and she had Taecyeon by her side guiding her through the process. Gui Gui is a singer herself (she was formerly part of the disbanded group Hey Girl ) so get into the rhythm of the song would not have been quite difficult for her, it is having to sing it in English which challenged her. However, she grew more confident with each take and together they managed to produce something that is unique to them. Their song really marks of all the experiences they have been through together and really helps to strengthen them together. In fact, their song has taken Taiwan by storm having reached a high of number 1 on Taiwan’s iTunes chart (it is currently sitting at number 2) which is quite an achievement for them both.
I loved the surprise that Mina gave Hong Ki!How lovely of her to do so! That sure lightened up his sleepy day! It was so sweet of her to help him prepare for his promotional event by making him food and helping him with his hair. I especially enjoyed the scene when they were in the van travelling to the venue together, because that just reminds me of a commoner having a secret relationship with a celebrity! (I am sure I have seen that scene somewhere in a drama before!)
The highlight of Hong Ki and Mina for me during this ep was the secret hand message that Hong Ki gave to Mina and when he told the public that Mina is his “wife”. That was so sweet of his because he publicly acknowledged her, which even though their marriage is virtual, it goes to show the impact she has made in his life, which is something quite big.
This ep is beautiful for both couples! I can’t believe that they will be departing our screens in three weeks! I am already going to miss them! I don’t think I have seen enough of them yet! I really hope that will these eps remaining there will be something spectacular to fill the ep! I would love to see Gui Gui attend a public event with Taecyeon! I’ll be keeping my fingers crossed!
